Bounty Hunter or Jedi Consular in Star Wars: The Old Republic?

TG and I are in a Star Wars: The Old Republic frenzy. Neither of us has been this excited for the release of an MMO in years, that I can recall. This might even trump our anticipation of World of Warcraft, and we all know how long that game took to release.

Tonight I had TG show me all the classes again, just for fun. We checked out the advanced classes that you’ll be able to specialize into and were both blown away by how many presumably-viable options there are. So many of the classes have tanking options and healing options. It’s really awesome, since we’re planning to start with a tank and healer combo. Plus, In order to start on the same home world, we plan to play the same class. Then, once we’re higher level, we’ll specialize into our preferred roles.

So, of course TG has decided that it’s of the utmost importance to choose our class carefully. Today.

With how little information is available about the classes right now, what with the NDAs and all, this has literally proven impossible. It is especially impossible when you take into consideration how many changes might take place with the classes between now and release.

We have currently narrowed it down to either the Bounty Hunter or the Jedi Consular. There are great reasons to play both, but we’ll have to wait to make our final decision.

This is all pretty normal for TG. Every decision about character creation in an MMO is agonizing for him. There is so much pressure not to make the wrong choice about class, race, or hair color. It’s amazing that we ever actually get to play with all his flip-flopping.

About Amanda

Amanda is a 20-something flailing gamer. While she loves MMORPGs, the company in them often triggers flare-ups of her social anxiety. Her all-time favorite games include Everquest Online Adventures, Eternal Sonata, the Animal Crossing series, Katamari Damacy, and Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure. She lives on junk food, and her favorite books are equally trashy. She doesn't believe in putting two spaces after a period, but she does strongly believe in the serial comma. Unfortunately, she has a penchant for starting sentences with "and" and "but;" hopefully you won't hold that, or her excessive use of semicolons, against her.
