Twink Rogue loves Behsten

I have a dirty little secret. It’s humiliating. It’s the kind of thing I have trouble telling even my closest friends. I trust you guys though, so I’m going to let it all out right here.

We’re playing World of Warcraft again.

There. I said it.

Wait! I can explain. I know it seems kind of weird that we’re playing WoW again. After all, I’ve told you all how much I really, really dislike WoW. There’s just something about it that keeps pulling us back in every few months completely against our will.

Honestly though, it was Rift’s fault this time. TG and I had both been offered seven free days of game time on our WoW accounts, and we thought we’d try it out when we were bored. It didn’t really pull us in like we’d hoped it would. So, we decided to try Rift and see what we thought.

The whole time we were playing, it felt like WoW 2.0. TG wasn’t enjoying it as much as I was, but the big problem was the lack of endgame content for us. In WoW, at least we have a chance of surviving in end-game PvP. Rift’s forums didn’t make that sound plausible. So our Rift play ended with nary a bang nor whimper but with a fizzle.

On our last Rift day, we finally decided that we might as well be playing the real thing, instead of the rip-off. That led to the reactivation of two of our WoW accounts and a brand new desire to twink. We’ve got problems, guys.

Now I’m really curious if WoW will seriously hold our interests until SWTOR comes out. I’m so tired of fantasy. I’m so tired of swords and spells. Been there, done that, way too many times.

Can a brand new setting spice up the same genre of game? I’m hoping so. What do you think?

About Amanda

Amanda is a 20-something flailing gamer. While she loves MMORPGs, the company in them often triggers flare-ups of her social anxiety. Her all-time favorite games include Everquest Online Adventures, Eternal Sonata, the Animal Crossing series, Katamari Damacy, and Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure. She lives on junk food, and her favorite books are equally trashy. She doesn't believe in putting two spaces after a period, but she does strongly believe in the serial comma. Unfortunately, she has a penchant for starting sentences with "and" and "but;" hopefully you won't hold that, or her excessive use of semicolons, against her.
